If you're replacing or specifying a Danfoss pressure switch today, start with the application, not the brand. For most commercial refrigeration and HVAC work, the Danfoss pressure switch KP35 is the sensible default. For heavy-duty industrial, marine, or high-cycling environments, you want a Danfoss RT pressure switch heavy duty model instead. That's the conclusion, and it's almost never wrong. The expensive mistakes happen when the two families get treated as interchangeable.

Here's the nuance that surprises people: “heavy duty” doesn't automatically mean “higher pressure.” An RT switch may cover the same pressure range as a KP35, but it's built to survive more cycles, harsher conditions, and longer intervals between maintenance. But it's exactly why I check mechanical endurance data and environmental ratings on every datasheet I review.
